About Frank J. Zamboni

Frank J. Zamboni was an American inventor and businessman who revolutionized the ice rink industry with his invention of the Zamboni ice resurfacer. He was born in 1901 in Eureka, Utah and moved to California in 1920.
Zamboni was always interested in engineering and mechanics, and he worked as a mechanic for several years before starting his own business in 1940. He opened an ice-skating rink in Paramount, California, and he quickly noticed the tedious and time-consuming process of manually resurfacing the ice.
He set out to find a better way of doing this, and in 1949 he unveiled the first Zamboni ice resurfacer. This machine used a combination of scraping, shaving, and washing to quickly and efficiently resurface the ice. The machine was an instant success, and Zamboni went on to found the Zamboni Company in 1954.
Today, Zamboni ice resurfacers are used in ice rinks around the world, and Zamboni is widely credited as the inventor of the modern ice rink. He passed away in 1988, but his legacy lives on in the ice rinks he helped create.
