About Howard Tanner

Howard Tanner was an American businessman, entrepreneur and philanthropist. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, in 1922 and graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in economics. He began his career as an accountant and eventually became the president of the Chicago Stock Exchange.
Throughout his life, Howard Tanner was a generous philanthropist. He donated millions of dollars to charities, educational institutions, and medical research. He was also a major supporter of the arts and was a member of the board of directors of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
Howard Tanner was also a successful entrepreneur. He founded several companies, including a venture capital firm and a real estate development company. He was also an investor in several successful startups, including the online video streaming service Netflix.
Howard Tanner was a passionate advocate for the environment and was an early supporter of the green movement. He was a major donor to environmental causes, including the Environmental Defense Fund, the Nature Conservancy, and the Sierra Club.
Howard Tanner passed away in 2019 at the age of 97. He left behind an impressive legacy of philanthropy, entrepreneurship, and environmental stewardship.
